Southeastern Promises?: An Appraisal of the Russia-ASEAN Economic Partnership

In July 1996, Russia and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) established a comprehensive ASEAN-Russia Dialogue Partnership. Despite these efforts, neither Russia nor ASEAN are prioritizing stronger Russia-ASEAN economic ties. In order to achieve its economic ambitions, it is time for Russia to significantly increase ASEAN trade and investment partnerships.
